Thank Heaven for a 3 day weekend!
I can’t believe that it’s Sunday evening already. The weekend has seemed to come and go before I’ve even realized that it was here. So, I’m very thankful for an extra day off tomorrow!!
This weekend has been about creating space…but I have to laugh at that because I’m really more the type to shift piles. It seems that as soon as I create some space, I fill it again. But, I keep trying and honestly, I’m getting better.
My kitchen finally has shelves in two of the cabinets…YAY! After a year and a half living without them I decided that enough was enough. Unfortunately, the Home Depot quoted price for 4 shelves is about $100…Excuse me, What? I had some wood cut to fit. Not perfect, but it’s working! It looks SO much better!! I also decided that those cookbooks and magazines that I’ve been collecting for over 10 years because the recipes looked, “Sooooo Goood”…well, the internet is a wonderful invention and I don’t need them either. Goodbye!
I also decided to make use of that storage closet that is on my porch. I’d put a patio love seat in front of that. When I looked inside, I was amazed at the room!! Who knew? Apparently, not I. Well, that new-found space was definitely filled. Yes, it is shifting piles, but now they are out of my bedroom. Out of sight, out of mind.
Speaking of my bedroom, I can’t believe how much space I now have. OK, that is probably a relative statement because many people would be claustrophobic at my new-found openness, but I could actually do a decent workout in the square feet that I’ve reclaimed. I’m pretty happy with that.
I have a few more areas that I’d like to go through. I hope that I have enough space in my weekend to do that. I also know that I should probably do this once a month. Because I probably only part with a fraction of what I should. But if I can think of my stuff as thirds, if I get rid of 1/3 and save 2/3, then 1/2 of what is left should probably also go…may be it will….but not just yet.
So, thank heaven for a 3-day weekend. It’s given me some time to reclaim my space and that gives me room to grow, even if it does fill it again!
